Introducing Sunny Acres: your steps can now grow a farm

Walking Adventure has always turned your steps into stories. With version 2.0.0, they can grow a farm too.

Say hello to the new Games tab and its first game, Sunny Acres: an old farm that’s been left to grow wild. The fields are full of weeds, the barn has seen better days, and the windmill hasn’t turned in years. It’s yours to bring back to life, one walk at a time.

How it works

Every job on the farm is paid for in steps. Clearing weeds, planting seeds, watering crops, feeding the chickens: it all comes out of your step wallet.

Filling the wallet is simple: go for a walk. Open the Games tab, tap Bank, and the steps you’ve walked today move into your wallet, ready to spend. Steps can only be banked on the day you walk them, so it’s worth checking in after a good walk.

The Games tab opens at level 2. If you’re already there, it’s waiting for you.

What’s waiting on the farm

• 10 crops to grow, from turnips and tulips to strawberries, melons and golden corn. Each crop earns its own mastery stars as you harvest it, and every star makes that crop worth more.
• 5 old buildings to restore: the chicken coop, the barn, the well, the greenhouse and the windmill. Each one changes how you farm. The well runs sprinklers that water the plots around them, the greenhouse keeps its plots watered, and the windmill makes every harvest worth more.
• Animals to look after: chickens, cows and beehives. Feed them and they’ll give you eggs, milk and honey, and grow fonder of you over time. Keep flowers blooming and your bees make extra honey.
• Village orders on the Order Board, which pay in wood and stone for your next repair.
• More land to open up, plus tool upgrades and new buildings long after the farm is restored.

Crops need water while they grow, and one left thirsty for too long will wither. It happens! Just clear it and plant again.

27 new badges

Sunny Acres comes with 27 achievements of its own, from First Harvest and Farm Restored to A Million Steps and One Whole Year. To make room, your achievements are now sorted into three tabs: Fitness, Stories and Games.

A little extra for subscribers

Subscribers get two conveniences: steps bank automatically in the background, so there’s no Bank button to remember, and Hold to Water and Hold to Harvest, which work a whole field in one press. Everything on the farm can be done without them.
